Thanks for the comment on Aldo Leopold, one of my favorites. I keep cool by living in a building built into the side of a ridge. It's only hot when I go outside. I also work as a part-time tour guide in a commercial cave where it is 60 degrees year-round.
How fun to be in the Master Naturalist program! Aldo Leopold is in my stack-to-read books, now I look forward to him even more. We (Oregon) are having a heat wave also, several days 100 or just above. I keep cool by moving slower outside. Well, I guess you wouldn't call it cool, but less hot.
Phrases: "night wind shakes the stars in the trees" and "the oaks scratch their fingernails against the black ceiling of the sky" both from Kathleen Dean Moore in her book Earth's Wild Music.

That dwelling sounds brilliant.
Creel - a small basket fly fishermen used to store the day’s catch. The had a shoulder strap for carrying them.
Thank you!

Love listening to you read your words, Mary!
Is there a world where we get to hear these posts in your own beautiful voice?
I mean, I record them. Hope you aren’t getting some AI me. 😂
Well that’s me reading them!
Amazing! I just noticed the “play” button!
Yep! I read out loud to proofread so might as well record. Not professional. Occasional dog barking.
Keep the barks in!
I’m scared of the heat of this year if it is anything like last year.
Me tooooo!
